Zip lining at Rainforest Adventure St. Maarten [sponsored post]
As I am always up for a fearless challenge, for my 30th birthday, I celebrated by zip lining at Rainforest Adventure St. Maarten, the world’s steepest hill. My younger cousin managed to convince me, that zip lining from Sentry Hill, over 1,000 feet high, would be an adventure. Boy she was right 🙂

Zip lining at Rainforest Adventure St. Maarten
The Rainforest Adventure staff welcomed us by explaining the waiver and all of the activities on Emilio Wilson Estate. The half a day experience includes the small Emilio Wilson museum which features a St. Maarten historical figure, Emilio Wilson who was a philanthropist, restaurant, gift shop, and most exciting – the Flying Dutchman zip line.
At this St. Maarten tourist attraction, there is a lot of scanning. You start to feel like an item repeatedly being checked out in the supermarket 😂. The final scan is very important, as this allows you to get your picture on the zip line from the gift shop.
The “Flying Dutchman”
Our wristbands allowed us to enjoy the Soualiga Sky Explorer chairlift to experience a full view of this beautiful Caribbean island and to ride on the Flying Dutchman three times. Therefore, I advise that you arrive early, to make sure you have time to have all rides as it takes thirty minutes to go up on the chairlift to the Flying Dutchman, and there is a queue to get on the ride.
As a group of three, we had to split up on the first ride down. So, depending on the number in your party, you might get split up or have to wait longer to go on together. The last chairlift is at 4:15 pm so we didn’t get the opportunity to have our last ride. You need at least three hours to enjoy zip lining at Rainforest Adventure St. Maarten.
My adrenaline was high once I was seated in the harness. When the gate opens to prepare you to zip, it feels like you can see heaven, you are so high up. Once it starts, the initial impact is so fast! After a few seconds, it seems to slow down and you can take in the beautiful views of the Caribbean island. It is absolutely breathtaking. This was a great adventure and if you are looking for a fearless challenge for 2018, then go zip lining at Rainforest Adventure St. Maarten!
In order to retrieve your pictures from the gift shop, you can view the photo taken on the chairlift going up to the zip line and the second whilst on the ride. Our photos looked higher quality on screen than when printed or emailed. The first photo is $15 and $10 for additional photos.
Unfortunately, with all of the scanning, one of my cousins did not get her individual picture on the zip line. The staff said it may have been a result of not scanning just before the ride.
Thank you to Rainforest Adventure for the complimentary ticket and photos. This all-day adventure is one to explore if you are visiting the beautiful island of St. Maarten. Ensure that you plan enough time to go to the Emilio Wilson museum and learn about one of St. Maarten’s historical figures. Whilst most of the staff are very friendly, there was a lack on confidence in the organisation of the at times. However, this is a great way to spend half a day or celebrate a milestone birthday in the Caribbean.
